As a visual artist, Maryem Garashi’s work is deeply rooted in her love of storytelling and Kuwaiti culture. Her illustrations immerse the viewer in a playful blend of realism and fantasy, while also striking a feeling of familiarity and wonder. She draws most of her inspiration from Kuwaiti folktales, books, and her environment (especially her pets). Maryem’s favorite mediums to work with are watercolors, gouache, oil paint, linoprint and silkscreen.
